Hellish few days!

Urgh! I have had a crap few days =( if you follow me on twitter you know my car died on Thursday =(

If not let me fill you in…

Driving to work on Thursday morning I get about 15 mins away from the house and the clutch decided to go whilst changing gears, the last thing we need right now is a unexpected repair bill for the car! I had said to Lee the night before that I thought something wasnt right with the clutch and would take it to the garage on the way to work – only I didnt quite make it to work!

Thankfully we have AA breakdown cover via our bank account so gave them a call and they were with me in about an hour – which is pretty good going if you as me. The guy tested the clutch and as soon he put the pedal down it just make this almighty grinding noise as if it couldn’t quite catch the gear… so he then proceed to hook the car up for tow me.

That was a weird experience if ever there was one! Sitting in my car just stearing along and breaking when the van did – not something I want to go again in a hurry. He got me to the garage near my work and I basically left it with them to look at and fix.  I called all day Thursday and they hadn’t had a chance to look at until 4:30pm so there was no way I was getting it back that day – so a friend at work drove me home which was nice of her, and Lee drove me to work on the Friday morning.

I was panicking yesterday that I wouldn’t get it back for Monday as we have our 3D scan booked in Edinburgh and I would really need my car to get there and this garage doesn’t do courtesy cars =( Called them about 1:30 yesterday to see what the deal was and they were still working on it – so i headed off home on the bus I might add – something I haven’t done in at least 8 years or more – I had no idea how much a bus fare was or even what stop it would take me to in Bonnybridge. But I got home ok – it was a 30min walk from the bus stop to the house so I got settled in and the garage called at 4:30pm to say it was fixed”! Urgh I had only been home an hour – if they could have told me the likelihood of getting it back that afternoon was high I would have stayed on at work longer =(

Never mind – we went and picked it up this morning, and it only cost £150!! Which was pretty amazing as we thought it would be up the region of £350 at least for parts and labour.

Now I have been driving it about all day it certainly seems back to its usual self =) Oh how I missed my baby lol

We went to a garage to look at a newer car and we were close to buying it as practically it would be bigger and better than the one I currently drive, but when the baby arrives me and Lee are swapping cars anyway so I his big car and he will drive mine to work etc, and it will only be for a few months at that. We are still weighing the pros and cons of this newer car which is really a 56 plate and mine the now is a 55 plate – but mine has no warranty left on it, the 56 has until 2012.

Hmm I dunno I would miss the zest and oomph my wee sporty one has to “downgrade” to a mumsy car the now when we have a prefectly good large family car (lee’s) already…..

Decisions!
